The N. Z. Gazette of 17th January, re-publishes " The Act to regulate the Immigration of Chinese, and prevent their becoming a charge upon the colony of Queensland." The master of every vessels has to p.y the collector of any port he arrives at the sum of £lO for each Chinaman landed by him. He must do this under a penalty of £2O. Chinese arriving by land over, the border of the colony have also to pay to appointed officers the like sum. The regular weekly meeting of the Queenstown Lodge of Good Templars took place on the 25th inst. After two of the Juvenile Templars had been proposed and balloted for, the election of officers took place as follows:—Bro. Walker, W.C.T. ; Bro. Mitscherlich, W.V.T. ; Bro. Neill, W.&; Bro. M'Carthy, W.F.S. ; Bro. Tait, W.T.; Sister Templeton, W.C.; Bro. W. Rogers, W.M. ; Bro. David Ross, W.I.G. ; Bro. Maclarn, W.O.G. Bro. Garland passes to the P.W.C.'s chair.—Rev. Bro. Ross then gave an account of his travels daring the last month. The members were j*lad to see their rev. brother again, and accorded him a hearty vote of thanks for hul address,
