WAKATIP DISTRICT HOSPITAL.

The monthly meeting of the above Institution took place in the Board-room, Frankton, last Saturday. Present—Messrs R. Beetham (President), G. M. Boss, A. Eichardt, T. G. Betts> Perelle, and J. S. Worthington (hon. secretary). Minutes of previous meeting read and confirmed. The following accounts were passed foxpayment : —Salaries —£39 3s 4d. Rations W. Pateraon, £9 lis 7d; Woodrow, 14s 7d; M'Bride, £4 4s lOd; W hittiugham Bros., £ll 3s 7d. Fuel and Light—Whittingham Bros., £8 17s 7d. Medicine and Medical Comforts —Malaghan, £ll 15s. Stores Malaghan, £4 Gs 6d; P. Doyle, £5 19s. Printing—W. Warren, £4 19s; Arrow Observer, £2 3s. Total, £lO2 lbs. A letter was read from Rev. J. Smith, in reply to the hon. secretary s letter, seeking aid in obtainining subscriptions and inaugurating Hospital Sunday. Proposed by Mr Ross, and seconded by Mr Eichardt—" That the Resident Surgeon's attention be again called to rules 7 and 8, with regard to the payment by patients for board, and that he be requested to see that these rules are in future strictly adhered to." The following tenders for supplies were opened and accepted:—Fuel and Light Robertson and Co., wood ; Doolev and Sproull coals, £2 10s; Whittingham Bros., kerosene. Bread and Meat—W. Paterson. Stores— Whittingham Bros. Bedding—De Beer and Walde. Medicine—Whittingham Bros. Rations —Whittingham Bros. Proposed by Mr Worthington, seconded by Mr Eichardt, and carried—" That tenders for supplies in future be called for every twelve months, instead of six months as heretofore." Proposed by Mr Ross, seconded by Mr Perelle, and carried—" That the hon. secretary write to the Government asking them to subsidise to the amount of £2OO the expense about to be incurred by the Committee in bringing in water for the Institution, explaining fully the difficulties; the absolute necessity for the work, and the large cost necessitated by that portion of the building.
