ARROW CRICKET CLUB.

A meeting of the inhabitants of Arrow township was held at the Cafe de Paris Hotel on, Tuesday, the 20th instant, for the formation of the above club.

Mr. Preshaw was called to the chair.

In opening the proceedings the Chairman stated, for the information of the meeting, that a few gentlemen had already taken some preliminary steps towards establishing a Cricket Club. Several subscriptions had already been collected, and others promised; a piece of ground had also been selected near the running course on the terrace above the township, and tenders had been sent in for clearing same. They had also availed themselves of an opportunity to obtain at Dunedin a complete set of bats, balls and wickets, which might be expected to arrive very shortly. Having done this the original promoters of the movement now thought it advisable to bring the matter before the general public, by whom he sincerely hoped it would be favorably received and a really good club permanently established on the Arrow. Thefollowing resolutions were then adopted:— " That the Warden be appointed president of the club."

" That Mr. Williamson be appointed secretary and treasurer."

" That a committee be appointed, empowered to draw up a code of rules for the regulation of the club."

The following gentlemen were then elected as members of the committee :—Messrs. C. Mace, Preshaw, M'lndoe, H. Mace, Williamsonj M'Cleary, Perryman and Haughton. A vote of thanks was then passed to the Chairman and the meeting terminated.

The committee afterwards met to decide on whose tender should oe accepted for clearing the ground, and to arrange for the collection of subscriptions. The yearly subscription has been fixed at one pound with entrance fee of ten shillings added for members; and one pound for honorary subscribers.
