The ' Patrie' says that Prince Napoleon (who is now at Havre) will probably go to Cherbourg on the 31st August to see the experiments of comparative speed, about to be made with the iron-clad vessels now assembled in that port.
Letters from St. Petersburg hardly allow us to expect that Russia will make any concessions. The old Muscovite party is averse to a temporising policy. General Mouravieff is the hero of the day. Public opinion pronounces energetically against every concession and the Government would seem disposed to yield to the influence of the masses, over-ex-cited by the old Muscovite party.
It is asserted that the Fins have sent delegates to St. Petersburg demanding a constitution for Finland and a separate Finish array.
'La France' mentions that letters have been sent to Madrid from Havannah, by the principal inhabitants of Cuba, demanding that (Spain should come to an agreement with Frauce for the organisation of Mexico in a strong and durable maimer. The subscribers of the letters show that the interests of Havannah are intimately allied with those of Mexico.
The.'Pays' says that no confirmation has been received of a rumor circulated upon the Bourse of General Mouravieffs assassination.
Two Mexican officers, prisoners of war at Bourges, have been sentenced by a military tribunal l to 16 days imprisonment for an assault upon Capt. Zamora, one of their companions in captivity.
One of the great advantages of civilized communities is its sanitary institutions. The establishment of bath rooms by Messrs. Jones and Revaleon must, consequently, be considered a boon to the inhabitants of Queenstown, taking into consideration the near approach of hot and dusty weather. The baths are fitted up with that attention to privacy and comfort that must ensure success to the enterprising speculators.
