MEXICO.
General Forey has established press regulations similar to those existing inF/ance. A proclamation has been issued that the superior committee has chosen General Almonte, the Aichbishop of Mexico, and General Salas as the temporary executive power. The executive has been inaugurated with impressive ceremonies. General Forey has announced that all who do not lay down their arms will be pursued. President Juarez has announced that all who join General Forey will be declared traitors. General Forey has ordered that all goods for the interior are to lie under French protection* The feeling is in favor of the French government. Yellow fever and smallpox are raging at Vera Cruz. Intelligence received from Vera Cruz states that General Marin has obtained possession of San Juan Baptista, in the State of Tabosco, an important position, commanding the river, where vessels load cargoes of Campeachy wood; and that Colonel Dupin has occupied Huatusco. General Forey has announced that he is occupied in forming a provisional government, which, following out the intentions of the emperor, will be composed of men of moderate views belonging to all parties. On the 10th July Mexico was declared by the public proclamation of the Council of Notabilities to be an empire; the throne tendered to the Archduke Maximilian of Austria, and in the event of hisjrefusal to accept, the Emperor of the French was implored to select a candidate for the imperial dignity. The clergy and people of Mexico were represented as being greatly rejoiced at the remodelling of their g >vernment. The New York papers publish the following intelligence from Acapulco, dated July 20, received via San Francisco:—" Ten thousand French troops are expected at Acapulco from the Gulf of Mexico, and from thence they will be despatched to garrison all the Mexican Pacific ports."
