Original Correspondence.
To the Editor of the Lake Wakatip Mail. Sir, —I should be much obliged if you could inform me through the medium of your paper how many circumlocution offices the Government of Otago is possessed of; for my part lam at a loss even to form the slightest opinion. As I have had good reason to ask this quest iin, I hope you will be kind enough to throw some light on it. I did some work for the Government in February last, and was informed by the gentleman who employed me that I would receive my money in the latter end of the same month or early in the next; now six months has passed, and I have been to the camp times without number, but nobody seems to know or care anything at all about it. And again, I called at the post-office, Queenstown, on Monday, 22nd June, when the postmaster told me there were two letters for me at Fox's, and if I would write for them I could get them on Thursday following. I have sent for them three times—lastly on Tuesday, 30th June, but no letters. I just mention these two instances for the present, but more anon.
By finding room for this you will greatly oblige, Yours, &c., A. J. Barrington. Shotover, July 1, 1863.
