A NEW RUSH.
A rush, which so far promises to be of some importance, has taken place within the last few days. The particulars concerning it reach us via Kingston, but they are very vague as yet, and require confirmation before any one should think of " making tracks" for it. So far as we can learn, the locality is in a large gully or creek, supposed to be a
branch of the Nevis. It is distant, according to the prospectors, eleven miles from Kingston ; but they think a track to Frankton will be found easier when opened up. The gold is a first-class sample, heavy and coarse, but very little water-worn, and similar in appearance to the gold obtained at the time of the Dunstan rush from the Nevis. The parties who made the discovery known, sold 11 ozs. a butcher at Kingston, and started again to to the scene of their labors. One party has started from this locality, and think favorably of it, having equipped themselves for a thorough trial. Gold is said to have been also struck by another party, a mile distant from the prospectors. These are all the facts we are in possession of at the present; but before our next issue we shall probably be able to give further particulars. The discovery is supposed to be within the Nokomai district.
