TRAMWAY ACCIDENT.

MISHAP ON. NEW BRIGHTON LINE. ' There was nn accident on the New Brighton tram that left Christchurch at 11.10 o’clock on Christmas Eve. When it reached the loop at Bexley,, the electric car passed on to the loop line, but the trailers, continued on the straight line. The jolt uncoupled the trailers. The electric car ran off the rails, swerved towards the moving trailers, and crashed into them. The train-was crowded with passengers, some of whom wore much alarmed, but it is reported that nobody was badly hurt.

The electric car was considerably damaged, ahd was taken to the repair shops to be attended to.
