ANNUAL MEETING. $£ RECORD NEW BUSINESS. (By Telegraph.) ' MELBOURNE, December 9. The annual meeting of the" Austral-', asian Temperance and General Mutual. Life Assurance Society, Limited, t was '■• held to-day. ■''-' The chairman reported a record riewj business of 103,093 policies, assuring £5,901,891. The premium income l was £1,011,628, as against £490,911 five . ! years ago. The total income was £1,200,487. . The funds had increased*, by nearly £600,000 in the year, aid were now £3,930,322. Of theHotal as--sets of £4,125,109 no less an amountr than £2,655,465, or over 64 per cent; . was invested in Government and muni- ; cipal securities, while the interest ratahad increased to £5 4a per cent. .- The actuary's report disclosed a surplus of £94,426, as against £63,376 the previous year, and recommended a; bonus distribution on the • pre-warv scale.
