ATHLETICS.

CLUBS’ PROTECTION ASSOCIATION. The thirtieth annual general meeting of tlio Canterbury Athlotio Clubs’ Protection Association was held last evening, Mr J. R Buchanan preriding. The annual report ntated that tho membership of the association totalled thirty-nine clubs. The Ascot Tennis Club and the Lyttelton Sports Club wore affiliated during the year. As most clubr were practically starting ou a fresh footing, thero had been no great need for action to bo taken in connection with defaulting members. Twenty-one cases were nubmited to the committee, of which no further action was taken against one; twelve were induced to settle without final action being taken, their arrears amounting to £ls 2s (3d; and eight were finally posted as defoultere. Tho financial statement showed that whilst tho association was still fairly well in funds, the funds, however, had been dwindling for the past few years, . the revenue of late not being equal ‘to tho ex. penditure. The oommittee recommended that, with the clubs becoming much more active &ns. the association being likely to .be called upon to carry out much more work, the annual subscription as provided for in tho rules should" bo reverted to.-The receipts. Including a balance of £2O 8s Id brought forward, amounted to £S9 18s 4d, and the expenditure £ls 15s, leaving a credit balance of £24 3s 4d, with no liabilities The election of officers resulted as follows: —Honorary secretary-treasurer, Mr H. C. Harrison; committeo, Messrs J. Jtt Buchanan (swimming), A. Stewart (hockey) A..W. J. Peacock (tennis) and K. Perrin (oiicfeet) —the • committee was given power tc add h rowing delegate; honorary auditor, Mr Angus Donaldson. It was decided that subscriptions should be 10s par annum. Tho North Beaoh Tennis Olub waa affiliated to the association.

An honorarium of £7 7s wm granted to the secretary.trenimrer for his sorvices during; the past season.
