SUMNER SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF.
ANNUAL sports. Tho annual oporto of tho Sumner School for the Deaf were held in the grounds of tho institution yesterday afternoon. In spite of the heat, a vory enjoyable afternoon was snont. The entry sheot was carefully compiled; and provided for a member of the teaching staff to bo directly responsible for each event. Everything wont very, smoothly, the children taking the keenest interest in the competitions. Great interest also was taken in the Indian waler-oarrying race, for which Dr Symeo provided special prises. Tho annual tug-of-witr called for special efforts, and tho treacle bun race was moßt humhrously contested. At the conclusion of the sports tho bovs\ leader, Harry Death, otUled for thico cheers for the liouse and teaching staffs. Theso were given both correctly and vigorously.
