"During the past fortnight the MarshlandSlairiLan Cycling Ciub n»» held two road races. The first, held on November 18. over a course about tea miles, resulted.as follows: L. E. Porter, r.t. 24min 52500, 1; H. Paulkiner, r.t, 21min B2j!aoo 9; R. Chamberlain, r.t. 26min 9seo, 3. Fastest time, unplaced rider, P. O’Shea, r.t. 23min ISsco. A race held on Thursday, November 95. dietaries twelve miles, starting at. Marshland school, resulted In a 7ery clobo finish, although «■ strong nor'-wester was against any very fast times being put up. The results were:— G. Prebbla, r.t. 37rnin 66seo, lj L. B. Porter, r.t. 38min lllaoo, 9; 11. Frebble, r.t. 37min £7oeo. 3. Fantont time, unplaced p. O'Shea, r.t. 35min 26sec. Half a wheel between first and second, with half a length between second and third. The fourth man, H. Faulltiner, r.t. SSinin 12soc, wan a length behind. Tne committee met a iter the raoo and decided to hold the next race on Thursday, December 2. ever the snnio course, but startin- from Msirehau instead of Marshland. It was also decided that until further notice raoea would ho started at 6.30 p.m., instead of 6, p.m. A Derby Race for youths under eighteen years of age is to be held on Tlccembor 14, The course will be twice round the Msireh.au block, about ton miles. Good prizes are offered, amongst them being a gold medal for first man past the poet, given by Mr W. J. Walter, and prizes p’reßented by Messrs P O’Shea and A. Bonis.
