rFitOM Our Corhbspoxmnt.] LONDON, October 14. Airs Brooking, of Christchurch, is in London, and at present is staying at tho Strand Palace Hotel with her husband’s mother—Mrs ,S. Brooking, of Norwich Quay, Lyttelton. Air and Mr a Brooking* are enjoying their visit to the grand old city. Their plans are not at nil definite, but they hope to return to New Zealand early next year. Air and Airs Philip Alycrs, of Wellington, have returned from the Continent, and are staying at 9, Porchoster Terraco, until their departure for New Zealand by the Orvieto, on October 20. Airs Al. Banks, of Shirley, Christchurch, who is staying just now at Regent’s Park with her two daughters, is now at the end of a six-months’ visit to the Old Country, during which they have visited Scotland, Franco and .Jersey, as well as making extensive tours of England. They made their headquarters with Mrs Banks’s sister, Airs Rowland Tench, at Knighton, Radnorshire. They are now in tho Inst week of their stay—they sail by the Orontes—and are doing the theatres and concerts, and have enjoyed seeing the scenery of lovely England. Air and* Mrs Joseph Fletcher, with Aliss Fletcher and Aliss Cox, all from Ashburton, are enjoying a lengthy stay in tlie Old Country. On arrival at Plymouth they toured the West Country very extensively, and then .went, to Bradford, Mr Fletcher’s native place, and during their stay in Yorkshire visited Bolton Abbey, Fountain Abbey, anti all the historic places of that interesting county. Thence they wont to the Lake Country, which they declare to be finer than Switzerland, and thenc© again to the Scottish lakes. On their return to England they made a stay for some time in Worcester, whero the Triennial Musical Festival was being held, and they were the guests of Canon H, B. Southwell. They find life in London so alluring, that they are going to stay on until tho end of tho year, when they will go to Switzerland. Northern Italy and Southern France, returning again to England in time for the spring. They are returning to New Zealand, via Canada, about J une of next venr, and while tho wholo party are enjoying intensely everything they 'have seen, they find that New Zealand is the best country for them. •* Mr and Mrs Afackenzie Gibson, late of Christchurch, are in London, from Surrey, where they have been staying at “ The Limes,” Esher. Captain John Rhodes, of Christchurch, is in London, and staying at 12, ixiwndes Street, Westminster. l)r and Airs W.
