During tho period 1913 to 1919 industrial disputes in New South Wales totalled 1670, involving £156,000 workers and 10,000,000 working days lost. The Commonwealth figures show 2613 disputes, affecting 701,Q00 workers and 14,809,000 days llOßt. At the annual meeting of the Employers' Federation the president in his address, referring to the loss of time end money through strikes, said that what Australia was suffering from was the temporary and accidental prominence ana power of those autooratio Cresars and Romanoffs of tho Labour Party. Until they were replaced by men of greater ability, experience and moderation there could be little respite from industrial turmoil and unrest. He claimed that the Arbitration Courts had proved a restraining influence and a power for good hardly to he over-esti-mated.
