ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
An inquest was held yesterday concerning the death of Mrs Jane Doxon Bassett, which took place at her home at Sumner on Tuesday evening. The Coroner returned a verdict of death from gas poisoning, Belf-inflicted, while in a state of despondency.

Donald Boyle, a married man, travelling represent itive of a Wellington newspaper, attempted to commit suicide m Grovetown, two miles from Blenheim, by cutting his throat with a razor. He wa9 removed to tho hospital and will probably recover. SHOT WITH A PEA RIFLE. KOTORUA, November 24. Henry Aspden, aged about forty, waa found shot through the heart in his room at Mamaku yesterday evening. A pea nile was lying on the floor. He had been m bad health for a considerable time, and recently underwent an, operation for internal tumour. He conducted a picture show at Mamalra. Hc> leaves a widow and three children. GORED BY BULL. WANGANUI, November 24. John Donald, a well-known breeder of Friesian cattle, was gored by a bull when putting at ring in the animal's nose. His chest was badly smashed, and his lungs were injured. Tho victim is in a private hospital, and his condition is reported to be critical.
