OBITUARY.
MR C. *. MOUNTFORT. Mr Cyril Julian Mountfort, who died In Christchurch on Tuesday, aged sixtyeight, was a son of the late Mr B. W. Mountfort, architect, whose'name is assodiated with many of the public buildings of Christchurch. The elder }Vlr Mountfort cam© out to Christchurch •with Sir Gilbert Scott, when the Christ-' church Cathedral was being built, Mr Cyril Mountfort being a boy at the time- He was at Christ's College from 1565 to 1867, and on leaving school followed his father's profession. Among the buildings which he designed were College House, St Luke's Church, Riccarton Church and the Dominion Buildings. Mr Mountfort took his fathers place ns superintending architect to the Cathedral on his father's death. He Was a Fellow of the National Institute of Architects, and a past president and also, past president of the local branch of the Institute. He was a director of the Christchurch Building Society.

LONDON, Novmber 23. r * The death is announced of Admiral of the Fleet Sir George Astley Callaghan. *-(Sir George Canadian was born in 1852. He commanded the naval brifade for the relief of the legations at ekin in 1900. He commanded' the fifth oruiser squadron in 1907-08, was second in command of, the Mediterranean Fleet 1908-10. commanded the second division of the Home Fleet in 1910-11 and was" Commander-in-Chief of the Home Fleet at Hhe outbreak of the recent war. He was Commander-in-Chief at the Nore from 1915 to 1918 and became an Admiral of the Fleet in J 917.)
