Messrs Lray Bros., fruit salesmen and auctioneers, Deo Street, Invercargill, report as iollows: —Apples continue to arrive in large quantities, and only the best of quality meets with a ready Ealo. Dessert apples— Jonathans Da to Its per caao for choice quality; Stunners, 3s (id to 10s (id ; Pearmuins, 7s to 8s case. Secondary quality fruit is difficult to sell. Cooking apples, prime quality and largo size from 7s to fas per case, inlcrior quality from 6s Gd to Gs Cd per case. Large quantities of this inferior Iruit is infected with tho “ black spot." Pears—Choico dessert to 163 Gd per case; cooking pears to BJd lb. Vegetables—Wo are requiring quantities of cabbage and cauliflower, which are in short supply. 16 DUNEDIN MARKET. Messrs Bray Bros, (of Dunedin), Ltd., report as follows for tho week ending October 9: The market is fairly well supplied with apples, and some of tho consignments coming forward are proving poor keepers. Several lots that have been bought in the north have been refused acceptance at this end, owing to quality. These have been forced on the market and affected prices. The potato market lias also fallen away, largo consignments coming forward and safes very slow. Prices are unpayable to growers. Cabbage and cauliflowers uro in medium supply and prices moderato. The demand for honey is keen and tho market has improved. Dairy butter and eggs are in good deiSitnd. Butter has firmed up in price, but the egg market is inclined to weaken. The following prices wero realised during the week.
