SOUTH RAKAIA ROAD BOARD.

The monthly meeting' of tho South Rakaia Road Board was held on Thursday; present— Messrs A. J. Mag3on (chairman), T. Blackley, H. J. Crothers, H. J. Harrison and J. Lambie. The clerk reported that works had been carried out on Michael’s, Jones’3 ana Langley's Roads, and in the outer parts of tho district. Mr H. J. Harrison and Mr J. Santy asked permission to make water-race crossings, which was granted under the usual conditions. Mr Langbein (district engineer) asked if tho board would spend £SOO on widening and forming the Main South Road if tho Government gave a £1 for £1 subsidy. The hoard agreed to the proposal. The following notices of transfer were received: J. Henry to F. Carr, Mrs A. Santy to 0. E. Currey, Public Trustee to William Hurst, T. Lawis to F. Greenaway, A. Weaver to H. Compton, R. J. Thompson to J. S. Scott, Smith to Copeland, and E. Dunstan to W. j. Dunstan. It was agreed to pay half cost of fencing between Mr 11. J. Harrieori’s propertv and one of,, tho board's reserves. It was decided to grado tho main street of tho township as soon as possible. Tho secretary was instructed to notify owners of property to lower hedges where necessary.
