■SEE RUGBY GAME, TO-DAY'S MATCHES. fTliB first round of the Rugby Senior Cup competition will bo completed this afternoon, when the seventh series of matches will bo played. All the clubs are now showing their best form, and each week tho games increase in interest. On the oval at Lancaster Park, this afternoon, Old Boys will meet 'Varsity, and a fast oven game is expected. On the adjoining grounds, Merivale will play Christchurch, and Albion will play Linwood. At the Show Grounds, Marists will play Sydenham, and thoro will also be a Second Grade match, North Canterbury v. Maiists. All gamoß will commenco at 2.45 sharp. ASHBURTON COUNTY UNION. Tho Senior match, Old Boys v. Ashburton, played on the Domain on Thursday in connection with the Ashburton County Rugby Union, resulted in a win for 01d_ Boys by twelve points to three. In the Junior match at Rakaia, tho home team beat Old Boys by three points to nil NORTH v. SOUTH MATCH. [Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, June 18. Th 3 Referees' Appointment Board has selected Mr A. C. Kitto to be referee in thei match North v. South Island, to be played in Wellington on June 26. BAD LANGUAGE AND MISCONDUCT. [Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON. June iB. The New Zealand Rugby Union had a discussion on the prevalence of bad language and misconduct amone local players. It was stated that these offences were far too prevalent and that drastic action was needed, also that the punishments awarded were too lenient. A resolution was passed calling en district unions to enforce stricter penalties, the executive being determined to deal drastically with offences, and to forward copies of tho proceedings at inquiries, together with a precis of the evidence and the findings. The New South Wales Association Football Association is being registered as a limited liability company, with a capital of £SOOO. One of the objects is tho fostering of matches with Now Zealand.
