MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS. The conversion of tho Cunard liner Aquitania to an oil burner marks an epoch in tho history of mercantile tnarino engineering. It is expected that the ship will be ready in July to attempt to establish a new transAtlantic record. The cost of the alterations is £500,000. Tho Aquitania will carry sufficient fuel for two voyages. Mr Austin Chamberlain, Chancellor of the Exchequer, 'has written to tho heads of Government Departments enjoining the strictest economy.
