THE ALLIES' WARNING
By Telegraph-Press Association-Copyright, "Tha Times" Service.
PARIS, June 11. M. Venezelos has arrived. It is stated that he contemplates conferring with King Alexander, with a view to establishing a Grcok republic. lne Allies warned M. Venezelos, that the return of ex-King Constantino would be viewed with extreme disfavour, and involve the re-drafting of the Turkish Treaty. An Athens message says that tho agitation to restore Constantino continues, but is chiefly by dismissed army officers and political place hunters.
REPUBLIC DISCUSSED. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received June 13, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, Juno 11. The Paris correspondent of the "Daily Express" states that King Alexander of Greece announces his willingness to sacrifice the throne unless he is allowed to take his morganatic wife back to Athens. M. Venezelos is coming to Paris to discuss tho possibility of establishing a republic in Greece. It seems impossible for Alexander to take his wife back to Athens, as a secret conclave of army officers threatened most energetic steps unless she left the palace. This was the cause of her coming to Paris with her sister. There are many pro-Constan-tine demonstrations in Greece, which is the real cause of M. Venezelos recently proclaiming martial law. In view ol Alexander's announcement a republic seems the only alternative.
PARIS, Juno 12. M. Venezelos has arrived. It is understood that he is asking King Alexander's, consent to a republic. Alexander is unlikely to have a personal objection. Ho prefers the lifo of a private 'citizen with his beautiful girl wife to the care of the crown. Alexander's holiday is due to end on Sunday. He is expected to give his decision before then.
