Greenwood, Lord Fiench and General Macready, came to n final determination on the new dual Irish policy It was decided to use every weapon in the State’s armoury in fighting terrorism, and on the other band to remove many restrictions imposed on the general community, to ndopt a more liberal attitude towards sedition, unaccompanied by violence, and to abandon indefinite imprisonments without trial. _ It Is estimated that the active terrorists do not exceed £9OO, though sympathisers doubtless number thousands. * lb is intended to establish military flying columns for maintaining, a continuous relentless pursuit of criminals, to secure independent evidence, and to execute proved murderers.
