ADDINGTON YARDS.

THE METROPOLITAN MARKET. Thera was a. smaller attendance at tho weekly market at Addington yesterday. The yarding of fat stock was lighter than usual, and prices fluctuated considerably. Beef was in a little better demand than ft wook ago. STORE SHEEP. There was ft good entry of ewes and wethers, and a good proportion of Chatham and Southland sheep was forward. At the commencement of tho sale backward wethers were in weak demand, but all other classes were much the somo as at the preceding sale, with forward lambs firmer. A line of 273 half-bred ewo lambs brought 85s. With the advance of the sale, prices showed a filming tendency generally. Values were as follow: Forward lamb 3,23 sto 23s lid. Ordinary lambs, 15s Gd to 19s 6d. Cull lamb 3,12 s6d to 14s 3d. Good ewo lambs, 23s to 355. Two, four, six and eight-tooth ewes, 25s 6d to 28a. Inferior two, four, six and eight-tooth ewes 19s jo 25a. Two-tooth awes, 25s Id to 2G b 3d.

FAT SHEEP. * Thoro was a yarding of about eight full races, as compared with ton Inst week. The quali-ty was of a more even character tk|an> at recent sales, though there was a big proportion of light ewes in the yarding. For 1 those there was a noticeable drop in values, but for prime mutton the market was on a par with last week. Tho market, however, was of >a fluctuating character. Freezing buyers operated to a fair extent. The following was the range of values:— Extra, prime wethers 47s to 59s 6th Prime wethers 38s 6d to 45a 6d. Medium wethers 34s to 38s. FAT LAMBS. There was a slightly smaller yarding this week, comprising 1900, compared to 2000 tho preceding sale. Tho quality was varied, there being' praotically nothing outstanding. The market was on a par with recent sales, freezing buyers operating fairly freely and securing tho bulk of the entry. The following was the range of values Lx.ra prime lambs to 34s 9d. FAT CATTLE. The entry at the commencement of the sale was 225 head, mos.ly medium-weight beef. Pricos opened at last week’s rates, and firmed slightly as tho sale progressed. Tho yarding proved to be smaller than last week’s —256 as compared with 385—with ft rather big proportion of light stuff. There were soine big beasts, but geocrally they were not well finished. One particularly fine pen sent in by G. G. Holmes (Knocklynn) realised from £25 to £32. The market for prime stuff was quite up to lust week's, but

STORE CATTLE.

A very small mixed yarding was offered, comprising principally potting cows, with a few forward onos. Values were as follow: Beßt store cows, up to £3 5». Other linos, £3 to £5 15s. Bulla, up to £l4 15s. A lino of Hereford'calves brought £3. DAIRY CATTLE.

The market for backward cows and calves, or those in poor condition, was decidedly flat. There was a keen demand for good quality cows close to profit and those showing a milking strain. Va'uos were as under: — Cows, up to fourth oalvers, up to £23. Good heifers, up to £lB. Inferior cows, up to £l2. Small and inferior, £5 to £7 10*. VEALERS. There was a largo yarding of vealers, mostly of an inferior quality. Good runners and vealers sold at a slight advance on last week’s rates, tho inferior sorts going to graziers. Values were .as under: Runners to £7 ss. Good voalors £5 17s Gd to £6 10s. Medium vealers, £2 7s 6d to £2 17b 6d. Calves (small), 8s to 37s 6d. ,• PIGS. A good entry of fat pigs was forward, the market showing a weakening demand however. The entries comprised a lot ox light stuff. Values were - Choppers, £6 to £9. Extra heavy bticoners, £8 to £8 11*. Heavy baconers, £6 10s to £7, Light baooners, £5 to* £o 16b. Average price por lb, 9jd to lOd. Heavy porkere, £4 to £4 j.os. Light porkers, £3 5s to £3 16s. Average price per lb, lOd to IOJd.
