CAMBRIAN SOCIETY.
dbo Cambrian Society of Canterbury held a social evening, in tho concert hall at the X.M.C.A., tho arrangements for which were carried, out by Mr# Bowden, Mrs Hudson and Miss Frecbury (honorary secretary and treasurer), assisted by Mr J. W, Bowden, The stage decorations wore greenery amt white chrysanthemums, green (leek green) and white being tho sociotv’s colours, also a largo Union Jack and two Welsh reel dragon nags bearing tho words *' Cymru urn Byjli ” (Wales for ever). Welsh officers and men and their comrades from H.M.S. Renowi were presont by invitation. Tho mooting was presided over by tho president, Mr J. W. Bowden, assisted by Mr J. G. Parry, vicepresident, and was opened with tho Welsh national anthem (Mr 1). Evans, soloist). Songs wore contributed by Misses I. Jenkins and Clara Bowden, Messrs E. J. Bell, Dan Evans and David James (duct), pianoforte solos by Misses Lilian Harper, cornet solo# by Mr Evans, a Royal Marino bandsman from H.M.S. Renown. Mrs D. James and Mr J. G. Parry played tho accompaniments. Tho musical programme closed with “Goa Savo tho King” and three cheers for tho Navy. Tho ladies of tlio society, a number of whom woro the national costume, provided a generous and dainty sniper, iho secretary roceived tho following telegram “ Tho Prince of Wales much appreciated Kind invitation from Cambrian Society, but regrets it will not be possible for him to bo presont this evening. H.R.H. thanks you for badgo, which ho is pleased to accept. Godfrey Thomas.”
