PIGEON SHOOTING.
MATCHES AT SOCKEURNf The Christchurch Gun Club fired severs? pigeon matches at their grounds, Sockbuin, nr, Saturday morning. Weather conditions were ideal, and some good sport resulted. Several naval officers were present from H.ii.b. Renown, and did eomo lir.o shooting. The first match was a sweepstake, but the visitors missed, as they desired to leave early, and shooting finished on tho third \oun<L Result:

A ten-bird clay pigeon match was fired by tlie visitors, Lieutenant Coombo bringing down six birds, Lieutenant Olliver five, and Lieutenants Somers at and Hanson three each. , . The visitors then shot a ten-bird sparrow match at sixteen yards, for a trophy presented by the club. Lieutenants Olliver and Hanson tied, and Lieutenant Hanson won on the twelfth round. Thoro was very good ehooting by all competitors.
