ROAD BOARDS.
MOUNT SOMER'S. The annual meeting of the Mount Somors Road Board was presided over bv Mr W-. R. Turton. The erection of a concrete bridge on, the Stayoley-Springburn Road was approved, the estimates of the work being also ap proved by the Ashburton County Council. Mr Lambie's resignation was accepted with regrot, and appreciative reference was made to the long service Mr Lambie had given to the board. Accounts amounting to £lO6 15s 7d were passed for payment. RANGITATA. Mr A. M'Kenzio presided over a meeting of the Rangitata Road Board at Lismoro on May 7. The olerk reported that nearly every road in the district required attention. The rates unpaid totalled £347, and the clerk was instructed to take stops to collect these, also to give notice to owners to cut and erub gorse on the roads fronting their property. It was decided to approve the Ashburton County Council's suggestion to purchase a roadmaking plant, to be hired out tp road boards. It was agreed to support tho duplication of the Lyttelton tunnel, and the improvement of railway facilities generally as recommended by Mr Hiley. Accounts amounting to £39 9s 4d wero passed for payment. Tho annual mooting of ratepayers was held subsequently. Tho chairman reported the board had levied ono rate in two vears and there was a balance of about £BOO in hand. Tho meeting endorsed the Ashburton County Council's suggestion to provide a roadmaking plant; also the duplication of the Lyttelton tunnel. At the closo the chairman and board wero accorded a hearty vote of thanks for their services. At a short meeting of the now board, Mr M. Charles tendered his resignation owing to leaving the district.
