Mr Hughes's scheme to suppress the wool trade has roused muck discussion, particularly tho proposal not to hold, sales in London between September and May, which brokers deeply resent, regarding it as an attempt to continue control to the longest possible date. A leading Australian merchant Bays ho thinks the demand at Australian sales may be restricted by shortage of buyers owing to dear money and the difficulty of arranging credits, also tho shortage of shipping, but in any case the stoppage of the London sales can only liave the effect of peeping up prices against the unfortunate public.
