The Labour Party has cancelled the endorsement of two candidates for the city who signed the Labour Council's pledge to release I.W.W. prisoners. ' The Commodities Commission granted the Vacuum Oil Company's application to increase the price of, kerosene by 2s per case. The North Australian Land Development League proposes to raise a publicity fund of £IO,OOO in connection with the £10,000,000 railway scheme from Mukatharra to Howell's Creek, Northern Territory. The line, of 1787 miles, is practically identical with Lord Kitchener's scheme of ten years ago, and it not only will aid defence, but will open up pasturage for 20,000,000 sheep.
MELBOURNE, March 10. It is officially stated that! the Hon A. A. Watt will probably negotiate a twenty million Commonwealth loan while in England. The Federal Capital League has an offer tp the Government that, in return for the uso of certain land, it will build the 'capital at a cost of three millions, and give it to the nation free of cost.
A conference of the representatives of tho. dairy industry from all the States carried a resolution in favour of a return to the pre-war conditions of marketing butter and cheese.
