GRAIN AND PRODUCE. A quiet tone prevails in tho grain and produce market at present, neitner merchants nor farmers showing much inclination to speculate. Oats continue very firm, though little business ib offering according to local. merchants. There was a very largo attendance, and the bidding was spirited all through, though the tone of the market was decidedly easier than was the case at tho Ashburton yards last week. The top price for ewes was 37s 4d fox a lino of 112 sold on account of Messrs Black Bros., of Lagmhor, and 36s was realised for a small lot of wethers sold on behalf of a client. A lino of 135 lambs sold on account of Mr L. Pratley brought 37s sd, and a lino of 185 sold on behalf of M!r P.
