FIUME AND ADRIATIC.
WASHINGTON. March 7President Wilson’s latest Adriatio Note has been pubiislied. The President says he cannot consent to tho withdrawal of his proposal of December 9, but accepts tbe abandonment of Fiumo ns a buffer State, and the creation of a free State limited to the corpus separatum of Fiui.ne. The President will gladly accept a mutual agreement between Italy and Jugo-Slavia, but says that Albanian questions should not be included in tho proposed joint Italo-Jugo-Slav discussions. The Premiers of Britain and Franco cannot expect tbe United States to approve of an exception to tho Treaty of London unless the terms are intrinsically just. President Wilson adds that lie cannot accept tho implication that be is responsible for the failure to reach a solution of the Adriatic problem. Reuter's Telegrams. (Received March 9, 8.5 p.m.) LONDON, March 4. Signor Nitti, on leaving for Italy, was interviewed. He emphasised that a friendly solution of the Adriatic question would be found with tho Jugoslavs. flo urged the necessity for restoring European credit and confidence by obliterating tho war spirit. Tho energies of Europe would not be revived unless victors and vanquished realised that they had a common task to accomplish! The vanquished could not pay tho indemnity unless productivity were restored by the allocation, of raw materials. Signor Nitti emphasised that tho Allies wore not going to suffocate the Turk*, but would help him on his feet again, like other ruined peoples.
