(Received March 10, 12.35 a.m.) LONDON, March 8. , In the House of Commons at question time Mr Lloyd George stated that the Government bad decided that the abolition of tho bread subsidy was inadvisable at present, but a substantial reduction in the estimate for the current financial year was imperative, consequently the wholesale price of flour would bo raised by 19s 3d per sack of 2801 b on March 15, also tho averago rate of extraction which must he obtained from wheat would ho raised from 77 to 80 per cent. In order to ensure that tho benefit of the increased value of traders’ stocks shall pass to tho consumer or taxpayer no advance ill the retail price of flour or broad would ho permitted until April 12. Arrangements have been made to check traders’ stocks. Tho estimated reduction in subsidy would amount to about £45,000,000 in the current financial year.
