The general election takes place on Wednesday, but the final results Tire not expeoted till the end' of the week. Four parties .are in the field, three, the South African Party and the Unionists on one side, and the Nationalists on the other, are making the ropublio agitation the main issue, whereas the Labour Party, though condemning the agitation and offering loyalty to the Constitution, professes to believe it a side issue and is concentrating on profiteering and the cost of living. It is impossible to forecast the result nny approach to accuracy, hub the general expectation is that the Nationalists and Labourites will gain a number of seats.
