DISTRICT COMPETITIONS.
EIGHTH ROUND. Tho eighth round of tho Canterbury Cricket Association’s district competitions was commenced on Saturday afternoon. The threefirst grado games wore played at Hagley Park, aucl despite the many counter-attrac-tions there was a fair attendance of spectators. The wickets were in good order, and favoured' the batsmen. Linwood B, five men short, batting against Technical College made 38 (Lawrence 18, Weston. 12). Technical replied with J 8 (Richards 31, Duncan 15, Armibage 10 and Dobbs 17). Linwood B, in their second innings, mado 42 (Lawrence 10 and Patterson 15 not out). Technical won by an- * nnlllg ? and 18 runs. Fox Technical Dobbs and Morriss shared the bowling honours, end Weston bowled best for Linwood. St Albans A, batting against East B, scored 68 runs (Hatch 86, Twyneham 15) Harry (six wickets for 19 runs) bowled best for East, who replied with 7G (AVestou 2‘Y, Clements 11, Harry 11). In ils second innings St Albans scored 122 for three wickets (Parton 40, Edgar 15, Hatch nbt out 21, Lamb not out 41). , , ~ . Sydenham A defeated B.H.S. by default. Sydenham B made 231 (Martin 126 not out, Woods 81, James 10, French 36, Clarkson 14) pgainat Riccarton B, who replied with 93 for six wickets (Sinolair 20, Evans 22, Rhodes 19). Rhodes, for Riccarton, and Martin, for Sydenham, were tho most ' successful bowlers. Linwood A madei 206 (Jack 55, Pertbi 33, G, Condliffe 26, Snooks 16, W. Cadenhead 16" not out, Weston 10, Searell 15, _T. Condliffe 18, J. Cadenhcad 11) against West Christchurch B, who replied with 80 for four wiokots (Chambers 22, Lamb 20). Wanklyn was tho most successful bowler fck AVest Christchurch. Riccarton A made 183 (A. Gurnsey 60, Beaton 36, Baverstock 18, M’Clelland 37, Killiok 15) against East Christchurch A, who replied with 95 for seven wickets (Feast 38, Jones 10). G. Bullock nnd Smith were the successful bowlers for East, and Olsen for Riccarton. Sydenham. A won by default against High School. St Albans B won by default against Christ’s College. THIRD GRADE.
8.H.5., batting first against East B, scored I*4-8 runs (F. Powell GB, Mortlock 10, Carlo ton 12, Gray 14). Barwick nnd Brosnan (four wickets each) bowled best for East, who replied with 151 for seven wickets (Walls 17, Elvy 38, Donaldson not out SO). St Albans defeated Linwood A by default. Christ's College B defaulted, to East Christchurch A.
Ricoaiton defeated Christ's College A by default.
In tho match Kaiapoi v. Technical College, tbo former in their first innings made 127 for two wickets (innings declared closed) — H. Rollinaon 52 not out, H T.ntstrum -14 not out, F. Berg 24. Technical College in their first innings made 19, and in tho second inning® 26. Kaiapoi won. on isio first innings by 62 runs.
FOURTH GRADE. Technical College, batting first against Bots’ High School A, made 44 (Monday 17). Boys’ High School replied with 150 tor five wickets (innings declared closed) (Wake 53, Skipworth 37, Hay 21, Speight 16 and Moffat 16 not out). Technical, in their second innings, made 50 (Curwcm 19). High School won by an innings and 50 runs. BOYS’ LEAGUE. , SENIOR GRADE. B.G.H. 73, defeated West Christchurch 39, by 84 runs. JUNIOR GRADE. A Section. Normal 66 and 99, defeated West Christcshurch 42 and 37, by 86 runs. St Andrew's 73, defeated Technical B 30 and 32, by 11 runs. 8.11.5. B 51 and 51, defeated B.G.H. 50 and 30, by 22 runs. Technical A 89, defeated B.H.S. A 83, by 6 runs. B Section. Technical B 138, defeated B.H.S. B 19 and 46, by an innings and 73 runs. B.H.S. A defeaied West Christchurch by default.
JUNIOR REPRESENTATIVE MATCH. The selector (Mr F. Reid) has chosen the following players to practise in view of the Junior match against Wellington at Easter: —Martin, Marshall, Sheriffs, Woods' Coomber, Irving (Sydenham), Buckhurst, Wanklyn (West Christchurch), T. • Oondliffe, Jack, Searell, F. Grant (Linwood), Burns, Jones, Feast, Andrew?, Cunningham, Harry, Weston, L. Watts (Esiat Christchurch), Killick, Powell, Gurncoy, Olson (Riccarton), Mar-tin, Lamb (St Albans), Morris, Yates (Technical), Page (School) and Talbot (College). Practice will commence at Hagley Park to-morrow evening, and players whose attendance ie not satisfactory will not be considered.
The Cricket Association is arranging matches for March 20 against soldiers' teams picked from the district clubs.
