; \ The Canterbury Industrial Association mot • Hast"’night; present—Messrs W. J. 'Jenkin : 1 (president), J. B. Laurenson, .T. A. Black, J. A; FTostick, G. White, P. J. Goodsir, W. j H. Bowie, G. Bradley and E. 11. Wyles. The president reported that a conference of delegates from tho association with delegates from tho Canterbury Chamber of Comjnerob would bo held on Monday, with tho object of agreeing upon uniform holidays. The Industrial Association of Innngahua wrote asking the Canterbury Association's support in efforts to get tho Otira tunnel work pushed ahead as rapidly ns possible. It was decided to reply that the association ' would do its utmost in tho direction indicated, and Mr Frosticlc agreed to deliver addresses bearing on the subject, on the ■West- Coast.
A - report by the association's delegates to the New Zealand Industrial Corporation’s 1 recent conference in Dunedin was read and adopted, attar complimentary .references had been ;made .to it. . A motion of thanks to i-hosea responsible for tho delegates' enter* tainment rtnd was carried.
In conhcbtiouj with.the report, Messrs FrosWyloftv'jdid Goodsir wore' appointed a committee, to investigate ways of extending the industrial organisations, of the Dominion Bowie, Bradley, Laurenson and .lenljins to an "industrial peace” committee, -and Messrs Goodsir, Bowie, Black and Wylee to a committee which is to endeavour to secure fairer bills of lading. Ittfrwas decided to hold the association's annual meeting on March 9. Mr Wyles moved that Mr Froatick, the chairman arid ’ Mr Laurenson bo appointed a committee, to further a 'movement for tho production of; an annual, publication under the ■‘auspices of the Industrial Corporation of New Zealand, which will convey in a clear,’ concise, and interesting manner tho annual progress;,;ot New Zealand's primary and Secondary mfP; i:[acturing, commerce, and trado activities. The motion was carried.
