Dr Davies was for some time on the military staff of the Christchurch Hospital. lhe Christchurch Division of the St John Ambulance Brigade held its fortnightly meeting on Alonday evening, Miss Alilb presiding. After the business for the evening was transacted, the lady corps superintendent gave a practical demonstration on linseed poulticing, mustard plasters and boracic fomentations.

The funeral of the late Airs Darling took place at Rangiora yesterday afternoon, her remains being interred in the Presbyterian cemetery. Many of her personal friends attended, and the bearers were Messrs AV. Al’Gruer, R. Ball, W. A. Rowse and C. I. Jennings, representing the Rangiora Literary Institute. Beautiful wreaths were sent by the Institute Committee, Women’s Christian Temperanco Union, Presbyterian Women’s Alission. Union and other friends. .

A very enjoyable evening was spent at Airs Gilbert’s, Mowbray Street, on Alonday last, taking -the form of a kitchen party in honour of Aliss Gulliek, who is / to be married this week. Alesdames Bowen and Pairman were authorised to - sign cheques conjointly with tire honorary secretary. Dr Pairman whs requested to continue his work of examining the children before their admission to the Home, and a vote of thanks was passed to him and also to Drs Lester and Stevens. Votes of thanks also were passed to Air Beckett (honorary auditor), to Air AY. J. Alooro for controlling the investments, to Alessrs Izard, Loughnan and Fryer for their legal advice, and to the ladies of the visiting committee. It was reported that the average number of beds occupied per week was fifteen and a half, this number being greater by five than that of any previous year. WEDDINGS

HAAIILTON—HA RLEY

A wedding of considerable interest which united two well-known Christchurch families, took place yesterday afternoon at St Alary’s Church, Alerivale. The church, which was beautifully decorated with pink and white flowers, was crowded with friends, evidencing the popularity of the bride and bridegroom. . The bride was Aliss AA’ynn Harley, daughter of Air and Airs L. AA’. Harley, • Rangiora, later of Sumner, and the bridegroom Air A’esey Hamilton, son of Air and Airs F. J. Hamilton, Redcliffs. The A-'en Archdeacon Haggitt performed the ceremony. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked charming in an exquisite gown of ivory crepe de chine and georgette, draped gracefully in Grecian fashion, the sleeves flowing and tho skirt caught up at the cordage. The train revealed a lining of delicate pale pink, and under her dainty net veil was a narrow coronal of myrtle leaves and orange blossom, and she carried a white ■ bouquet. The bridesmaid, Aliss Annette Harrison, wore a simple and becoming frock of champagne coloured georgette and a black hat, the effect being enhanced by a bouquet of flame coloured roses. Airs Harley (mother of the bride) wore a smart navy blue crepe de chine frock with touches of cerise, and a navy and cerise hat. Airs Hamilton (mother of the bridegroom) wore a handsome heliotrope coat and skirt and hat to match. Aliss AVynn-AVilliams was in deep mauve crepe de chine and a black hat. Amongst the guests were Mr and Airs Cecil AA’ynn-AVilliams, Air and Airs Percy AA’ynn-AVilliams, Mrs Charles Hamilton and Miss Hamilton, Airs F. Robinson, Aliss Al. Robinson and the Alessrs Robinson. Airs Holder* ness, Air and Airs George Helm ore. Mr and -Mrs Million and Airs E. MiUton, Airs Rossmore AVilson and Aliss Wilson, Airs Harrison and Aliss Harrison.
