Tho Pekin correspondent of the "New York Times" states that ,the Methodist Conference is considering a proposal for the establishment by tho Church of Christian communes throughout China, consisting of groups of 300 poor people, for co-operative self-sup-port. It is proposed to capitalise these communes only to the extent ■of providing them with tillable land and expert vocational guidance- The communes will abolish the use of money and undertake manufacture only to provide their own needs.
