AMBULANCE FACILITIES.
Mr O. 0. secretary of the New Zealand Jockeys' Association, sent the following telegram yesterday to the Minister of Internal Affairs: —
" I respectfully draw your attention to grave abuse of racing clubs in that no provision ig made for ambulance and medical attention on racecourses during meetings. At, almost every meeting in and around Auckland recently accidents had happened to jockeys involving serious injuries, and victims have suffered agony through lack of modern facilities in directions named. Latest case is Te Kuiti, when the club on eve of* meeting were requested to provide ambulance and medical attention throughout the meeting. Jockey was seriously injured, and it was found club had failed to provide ambulance. Jockey's removal involved intense suffering entirely through club ignoring requests. Respectfully suggest that no further permit be granted, and pending one suspended, until clubs give guarantee to provide facilities mentioned. Ambulances are readily available or procurable."
