Sinn Feiners attacked the police barracks at Ballytrain, Monaghan, and after a three hours' fight the raiders blew up the buildings and a wall, injuring three police. While masked men raided the house of Dr M'Sweeney, veterinary surgeon, Cork, for money and arms, one of the raiders was wounded, probably fatally. A bullet wounded Dr M'Swoeney in the arms. FARMER'S WIFE MURDERED. (Received February 17, 12.26 a.m.) LONDON, February 16. Six masked men entered the house of a farmer named Morris, afc Ballagh, County Wexford. Mrs Morris, aged fifty-four, mother of fifteen children, ordered the intruders to leave. The leader of the gang fired a shot at the ceiling to intimidate the woman. She seized a spade and rushed at the intruders. The leader fired point-blank. The woman fell as her husband rushed in, and died |in his arms. The leadieW pointed a gun at the distressed husband and said that if he left the house within two hours he would share his wife's fate. MILITARY STORES, SEIZED. LONDON, February 16. A train of forty-seven truoks, filled with military stores and ammunition, in charge of a military guard, waa nearing Dublin. Bombs were thrown at the train, which stopped and raiders boarded it, and seized a quantity of ammunition. A signalman and a soldier were wounded by bomb explosions. BISHOPS CONDEMN OUTRAGES. LONDON, February 16. Most of the Irish Roman Oaltholio bishops in the Lenten pastorals condemn the recent outrages and warn young men against the dangers of secret societies. Cardinal Logue denounces the Government's seventy and vindictive sentences, which are out of all proportion to the alleged transgressions.
