THE PRICE OF MILK.
TO THE EDITOR..
Sir, —As a member of that awful body of " patriotic blood-suckers" mentioned in "Boycott's" letter in tho " Times" may I suggest to the injured one the advisability of first ascertaining knowledge upon the price- of milk before rushing into print. Judging by his remarks one would imagine milkmen to be a set of robbers instead of a little-appreciated hard working body of men. Last month the wholesale price was lid per gallon, though some few paid Is. This month it is Ls 2d, an advance of 3d, and not ono penny, as your correspondent states. Hence, if any party is blameworthy for the late advance, surely it is tho wholesalers and not the retailers. True, the retailing of milk at M per quart means a retail advance of 4d per gallon, but this extra penny is soon accounted for in extra cost of horse feeding, and wear and tear of outfit. If " Boycott " still thinks the milkman's lot a sinecure and ono to be coveted, let him try the delivery of this necessary commodity some morning similar to that experienced tho day hys lament appeared in print.—l am, etc., ONE OP THE BLOOD-SUCKERS. (Incidentally with four and a half years war service to my credit.)
