SUPERANNUATED RAILWAYMEN.
The annual general meeting of the Superannuated Railwaymen's Association was held on Thursday, when there was an attendance of over seventy men. including » few superannuated members of the Police Denartmont. Mr H. Owen (president) occupied the chair, and reported what had been done in regard to tho association's application for a war bonus on account of tho increased cost of living. A considerable amount, of correspondence was read in connection with this subject, and it was decided that an urgent communication be sent to tho Prim© Ministor pointing out that, as the question was not dealt with by tho, Railwav Board, the members were desirous of some;, relief being granted at as early a date as possible. It was resolved to thank the Officers' Institute and the Engineers'. Firemen's and Cleaners' Association for their aßsistanco in tho matter, and to express* regret that the executive of tho Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants had not displayed any activity in placing tho claima of this association before the authorities. The executro was instructed to go into the question of framing niles. Tho officers resulted as follow: President, Mr H, Owen (re-elected); vice nyesident, Mr R M'llroy (re-elected): honorary secretary and treasurer, Mr E. G. Wilson (re-eleoted): executive, Messrs A. M'Kenzie, H. Hoddinott. T. Fowie and Crawford ; auditor, Mr A. Watson. It was decided to invite "the local members of Parliament to attend the next meeting of the association. Eight new members were elected, .and a vote of sympathy w«« passed to four members who had suffered bereavements.
