TRAMWAYS AND DRAINAGE. RATEPAYERS ENDORSE IMPORTANT POLICIES. The tramway loan poll and the sewerage extension poll were conducted yesterday, and the proposals submitted to the voters were carried by substantial majorities. The poll of ratepayers of the tramway district (which includes the Riccar-ton-Sockburn loan area and other special rating areas) on the proposal of the Christohurch Tramway Board to borrow £340,000 for the purpose of extending and improving the system, was approved by a majority at each polling booth except at the Sydenham Football Club rooms, where 36 voted for and 36 against. The number on the roll for the Christchurch tramway district is 24,499, of whom 2982 voted.
