PIGEON FLYING.
The junior section of the Canterbury Plying Club' flow its first race from. Hinds on Saturday,' December 6. Fifty-two birds were Bent, divided amongst twelve owners. Owing to a stfoiig easterly wind, , tho velocities were alow. " The winner was Hr H. Pearce’s 143, which flew the distance of sixty-four miles air line in 2 hours 10 minutes 5 seconds. The following are the velocities recorded:—H. Pearce, 871 yards per minute; A. Pinlayson, 862 yards per minute; B. Ashworth, 661 yards peT minute; .A. Corrigan, 853 yards per minute; V.-Chambers, 852’yards per minute; P. Sandford, 850 yards par minute; N. Bobertison, 883 yards poo: minute; E, Mahan, 820 yards per minute; I*’. Fisher, 812 yards per minute; A. Dalton, 704 yards per minute; H. Baynor, 731 yards per'minute; Diodes Bros., 005 yards per minute.
