TATTERSALL’S HORSE SALE. Messrs H. Matson and Co. reoort having had an entry o| 81 hoises on Saturday. A large proportion consisted of hacks and harness horses, draught horses at present being in short supply all over the country. Amongst the principal sales made were: 3?or J. A. ASHBURTON The quantity of grain or produce being submitted by growers has now reached small proportions, and only odd lines of any sort ore being handled. Wheat —Inquiries from millers are general, and l brokers are unable to supply the quantities asked for, as very little now remains in fanners’ hands. Oats —The market is firm at late rates, hut merchants report that the demand, for new business is not great, the present position being tho result of forward contracts which are being supplied from stocks in stores at various centres or are being arranged by cancel. A grade Garions sold at 4s 2d at country stations, B grade 4s Id, and Algerians and Euakuras little business has been done in potatoes at £9 net on trucks at country stations. Mcrsts J. 0. N. Grigg, G. Harrison, W. T. Lill, W. 11. Price and D. G Wright, the fivo directors who retired by rotation, were reelected, and Mr J. W. Bowden v;as ro-olcctod auditor. Mr T. Bullock drew attention to the company's bank overdraft of £si>36, which, hu thought, was rather hoavy for a company such as tho Ashburton Dairy Company, and he thought it would be ivise if the directors took this matter into consideration.

The chairman agreed with Mr Bullock, and at his lequest tho secrotary (Mr W. Anderson) explained that tho company had under consideration a scheme to reduce the overdraft and eventually to get the v.-holo of the shares into the hands of the cream suppliers. A hearty voto of thanks was passed to the general manager, tho secretary, tho loctory manager (Mr E. Kcig), and other members of tho staff. On the motion of Mr Mooro, a special voto of thanks was accorded the directors, the mover remarking on tho ablo manner in which they had carried out their work.
