ANNUAL MEETING. The thirty-fourth annua! mooting of members and subscribers of tho St John Ambulance Association (Canterbury and West Coast Centre) wa3 held last night, the Hon R. Hoitou Rhodes ( .’ice-prosidoiu) being in the chair. Tho chairman, in moving tho adoption of tho report and balance-sheet, said that a fairly successful year bad been passed. Fortunately the war was now over, and work oouid bo accelerated. This year, besides the ordinary war work, tbo influenza epidemic had boon ooped with. However, they were utterly unable to mvct- with all tho demands ntaao upon tho association, but some of the leading citizens, and, in fact, practically ail the motor ownors ot Christchurch, had joined in helping It had boon a good thing for tho city that so many private individuals had been cduea.ed in first aid and homo linrsiugl bolore the epidemic bad overtaken them. There were two motor ambulances in use at present, and ho hoped that tho next stop would bo in the UueoUcil ol providing tho loading sub-contro3 with suoh ambulances. Ho hoped that during vbo coming year tho association would devote more time to the teaching part of tho association’s business. All worn greatly indebted to tho work accomplished by tho brigade and nursing divisions. Tho report and balance-sheet were adopted. Captain W. AV. M’Kinney referred to the fact that Colonel Barclay, Now Zealand Commissioner, had returned from the front, and had brought back with him a new scheme of organisation which ho thought would greatly affect the brigade in the matter ol self-government in New Zealand. A great amount of work had boon done in the way of free education. Over 603 workers had been instructed in elcmuntary nurßing without cost to anyone. A vote of thanks was passod to Mr A. E. G. Rhodes for the interest he had manifested in tho work of tho association. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as fo.lows:—New Zealand president, his Excellency tho Earl of Liverpool; vice-presi-dents, tho Mayor of Christchurch (Dr H. T. J. The presentation of certificates to successful students in 1918-10 was made ’by the chairman at tho conclusion of tho business.
