! WAIMAKARIRL The monthly meeting of the Waimakariri Harbour Board was held last night; present —Messrs W. Doubleday (chairman), H. C. j Novell, Li. Edmonds, 'J. Wright, R. Dunn ! and L. B. Evans. | A letter was received from the North Cani torbury Freezing Company offering to help j scoop a channel through the north spit when I required. i Mr E. E. Papprill wrote advising that tho rightful owners of the willows at Askoaton could only bo ascertained by a survey. Mr H. T. Toogood, civil engineer, offered to give an estimate of tho proposed training wall, provided survey data of the river wore obtained from Mr F. AY. Freeman. The action of tho Works Committee in engaging tho services of Mr Toogood -was endorsed. Tho liarbour-inaster reported that the average depth of water on tho bar was Bft. Easterly seas washing into the river had loworcd the north spit by fully 2ft. A recent 1 flood down tho north branch gavo that part of the river a good clean-out, soundings in shallow parts showing -Ift at low water. The financial statement showed that tho receipts for tho month had boon £3O 6s lOd, and tho expenditure £l2 11s Cd, leaving a credit balanco of £lB Gs Id. At a statutory mooting of the board, the annual balance-sheet as at December 31, 1913, duly audited, was received and adopted.
