Foreign rates of exchange are: —On Paris, 35.47 francs; Stockholm, 17.16 kronen; Christiania, 18.13 kronen; Calcutta, 21.44 rupees; Montreal, 4 dollars 38 cents; NeW York, 4 dollars 24 cent*. RUBBER, HEMP, ETO. Rubber.—Pars., 2s Gd; plantation, 2s 2Jd. Cotton. —A Liverpool quotation for November delivery is 19.97 d. Hemp—Tho market is dull. High point fair, Octobcr-Doconibcx shipment, 47. Jute. —Prices are nominal. Septoinber-Oc-tober, 70. CopTa.—The market is weak, October-Do-oember, 63J Linsqod Dil.—£Bl per ton. Turpentine.—l2ls per nwt. P. AND O. SHARES. Poninsulor shares are quoted at £OOO. WOOL. Tho wool sales closed firm. Of 200,000 boles catalogued, practically all were sold. Although extreme prices were not fully maintained during tho last few days owing to un< oasiuess duo to tho strike, all round prices were considerably above August rates. Best mexinoes sold at hugo prices, mostly to Amw rica, ranging from 10 to 15 per cent increase. Averago and faulty merinoes sold chiefly to Continental firms at 5 to 7J per cent ad-i vance. Good scoureds advanced 10 per cent, and faulty sooureds were irregular. Medium fino cross-breds advanced 5 to 10 per cent. Conxso greasies, slipo and shabby scoureds were at par, with some irregularity. Tho situation in tho Bradford tops market is likoly to improve, as tho operatives have decided to work overtime. INCREASED PRODUCTION. LONDON, October 4. As a result of the Bradford operatives working overtimo tho weekly increase in the production of combed wool will bo 500,000 pounds.
