Th e Defence Department has been advised that two more transports have left England for New Zealand. The Somerset left on July 2 .with 967 troops, and is clue at Lyttelton about August 12, and the Mamari, with 1050 troops, is due at Auckland, about August 13. This brings the total of troops on the water up to 9558 in eleven transports, which also carry 605 women and 154 children. ' The transport Ruahine is _ expected here to-night, and berths at 7 a.m. tomorrow if a clean ship.

ARRIVAL OF TAHITI

j Shortly after ton yesterday morning the transport Tahiti from London, via Auckland, was berthed at Queen s Wharf to disembark here three hundred troops- Tho disembarkation was carried out.as expeditiously as usual. There was a good muster of the voluntary motor corps who rendered excellent service transporting Wellington men. .and their next-of-kih to their homes.

RUAHINE AT WELLINGTON

[Per Press Association.] ' WELLINGTON, July 7. The Ruahine. with returning troops, arrived at Wellington at 7.20 p.m., and is to berth at 7 a.m. to-morrow.

Thoso for Manawatu, Taranaki '■'and Hawke’s Bay leave Thorndon at 5.4 n.m. The southern men leave by ■ the Mararoa to-morrow night, and those for Marlborough, Nelson, and. districts ' north of Westport, by the Nikau at 5 p.m,.
