Wellington Rugby Upton to-night a request from the Auckland Union that tlie repreeentativo match on August 0 should bo a Ranfurly Shield fixture was refused. It was pointed out that Auckland had held tho shield' for years before Wellington achieved the honour, and it was desired fo give southern urijons a chance of winning it. The match'was an' extra one and was'being played •to assist Auckland's funds.
