The Niagara ill all probability will not proceed to -Sydney from Auckland, owing to the shipping trouble, but will remain at the northern port until June 10, on which day she will sail for Vancouver. . The Moeraki was expected to leave Auckland yesterday, taking with her the Niagara’s passengers for Sydney. The Invercargill, which arrived in Lyttelton from Wellington on Tuesday night, was unable to complete her loading last evening. It is, however, hoped to dispatch her for Wellington about noon to-day. 1 The Waliatu completed the discharging of her cargo last evening, and will be placed on the “slip this morning for her annual overhauling and survey. A meeting of coastal boat engineers web held in the Marine Engineors’ Institute rooms, Wellington, on Monday, to discuss proposals by tho shipowners for an increase cf wages. A NEW CUNARDER. ■ Tho Cunard Lino has- ordered a passenger liner for the Atlantic trade from Messrs Swan, Hunter and Wigham Richardson, Ltd., of which tho following particulars are published by tho builders. The boat has been numbered 1195, and is designod for first, second and third-class accommodation. The particulars of construction are.: —Length (b.p.), 609 ft; breadth (m.), 73ft 6in; depth (m.), 45ft; with a displacement of about 12,500 tons. Sterling and tho four-masted barque Almendral at Sydney some days ago, no more big sailing vessels are expected at Sydney for some considerable time, and judging by tho present state of affairs andl tho great number of now steamers now coming to Australia, it is very probable that never again will there bo so many large sailing vessels coming to Sydney 03 were here ! last year. During last year no less than fif- | teen large four-masted barques arrived at ! Sydney, including some of the finest sailers afloat (says Sydney " Shipping List ”). _ Tho world's greatest four-master (tho Daylight), 3655 tons register, was amongst tho number at Sydney; then the Bellahds, 2958 tons; Souverain, 2915 tons; Olivebank, 2647 tons; Steinsund, 2476 tons; Sydnoes, 2201 tons; and Archibald Russell, 2181 tons.
