PERSONAL.

Mr W. Fisher, postmaster at Kaiapoi, has received advice of his transfer to a similar position at Lyttelton. The Hon G. W. Russell, Minister for Internal Affairs, left for Ashburton by the 12.25 p.m. express yesterday. He will return to Christchurch to-day, and will leave for Wellington in the evening.

At the close of the tournament held by the Canterbury Hockey Association yesterday, Mr J. Chatfield, on behalf of tho lady members of the local clubs, presented Mr J. J. Adams with a suitcase in appreciation of the interest and enthusiasm he has shown in the ladies’ hockey. Mr Adams will leave Christchurch on June 22 for Wanganui, where lie has received an appointment as inspector of schools.
